Client Demands – The Good, The Bad, and The Just Plain Irritating

Designer Collin Harman created this painfully accurate diagram that depicts some of the horrors of working with non-design client. Great and cheap? Yeah right.

You can only pick two and no matter which two you choose the results are always the same: horrendous. Every designer knows good design is always what makes the client happy. After all, that is what you are being retained for: whatever the client wants. Knowing how to (gently and smartly) steer a client towards a product that you both can be proud of takes skill. However, if a client is requesting a duo of what’s listed on this diagram perhaps it’s best to pass the client on to another designer.

Have you dealt with a particular client’s (terrible) request? how did you handle it?
